“Dear Joe, We would just like to say how overwhelmed we both are at how stunning the thatch looks. We are so impressed with your craftmanship. We knew thatching must be a hard job but didn’t realise just how much goes into it. Thank you so much for designing the chimney section for us, it’s just perfect, the scroll pattern flows so nicely. And to top it all, I just love the ducks. It’s been a privilege having you, not only restore, but immensely improve our cottage to a thing of beauty.
We are both completely overwhelmed by the standard of the roof, and more importantly your professionalism and dedication throughout one of the hottest summers in history. Those traditional skills will be part of the heritage of Fallow Field for a very very long time. Thank you.”
“Sir, I wish to bring to your notice the most excellent work that two of your members have recently undertaken on our cottage. We live in Crook Cottage built in the mid 1400’s. we have lived there for 46 years and this is our third thatching experience. From early January to March this year, Mr Joe Thornton, aided by Mr Mike Palmer, grafted unflinchingly, through the frost, cold and rain to impeccably re-thatch two roofs and totally ridge our cottage. I took detailed interest in each step of their work. It is now without doubt an example of extremely conscientious and technical work, performed by these two Master Thatchers. I understand that your society is very conscious of protecting their image and standards – which is to be applauded. I do sincerely hope therefore you will send one of your inspectors to visit our cottage to review and record their work so as to acknowledge the wonderful achievement of these two amazingly skilled craftsmen.”
“Just to say a big thank you to Joe and Mike for a fantastic job they did on our thatch would have no hesitation in recommending them from start to finish they did an amazing job wouldn’t hesitate to use them again a brilliant job!!”
“Thank you for the work that you do and the way in which you have carried out your craft for us. Best Wishes”
